Meisner Institute started in 1997 - advocating for the legacy of legendary acting teacher Sanford Meisner and the methods he pioneered.


Led by Scott Trost, we are an international center for great actors, writers, filmmakers, and acting teachers in over 24 countries.

What is the Meisner Technique?

Sanford Meisner taught a technique that shifts an actor's focus from themselves to their scene partner. In every single moment of a performance, he believed that instinct trumps logic.

We design our programs and courses around building a strong foundation around the Meisner Technique - while advocating for a safe and joyful learning environment.

Do I need any previous experience or credentials to enroll?

There’s no need to have any prior knowledge or credential - only an open heart and passion for the art.

We teach EVERYONE: from hyper-focused specializations for seasoned actors and teachers - to beginner-friendly, foundational skills for new actors.

How do I choose my courses?

We offer a number of different learning paths that range from starter courses to in-depth specialization. Read and choose the one that better meets your needs and goals as an actor or acting teacher.

When can I start studying?

You may enroll any day of the year. However, some courses start at a particular date. For late enrollments, please contact us to make arrangements with your instructor.
